The School of Environment and Natural Resources (SENR) at The Ohio State University is an interdisciplinary academic unit dedicated to the use and management of natural resources in an economically efficient, environmentally compatible, and socially responsible manner. Our programs are delivered by 36 full-time faculty supported by 30 permanent staff. Faculty expertise includes various aspects of Aquatic Resources, Environmental Social Sciences, Forestry, Soil Science, and Wildlife Ecology. An outstanding Student Services Team provides academic and career counseling and adminsters a campus-wide Environment and Natural Resources Scholars program for high ability sutdents of all majors with an interest in environmental and natural resource issues. The SENR hosts a vibrant graduate program that provides Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in the Environment and Natural Resources. A non-thesis, professional Masters of Environment and Natural Resources degree program is currently under review by the Ohio Board of Regents. Research Programs The SENR supports numerous research initiatives that integrate the natural and social sciences within the context of natural resource use and management. The School's research portfolio includes broad support from federal and state agencies, private industry, and foundations. Over $2.2 million are generated annually through sponsored research. Public Outreach The SENR brings current knowledge to the public's door through research-based educational programs. Lifelong learning experiences are implemented through web-based education, workshops, demonstrations, and presentations. SENR faculty and staff affiliated with OSU Extension partner with individuals, communities, businesses, and public organizations to provide information on critical environmental and natural resource issues.
