It is our premise that the wellbeing of human society is intimately linked to the land and its complex interplay of ecological processes. The School's vision and mission are consistent with this theme and support the broader goals of The Ohio State University and the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences.

OUR VISION

A productive society with sustainable management of natural resources for a healthy environment.

OUR MISSION

To provide leadership, educate students, serve the general public, and conduct research that promotes the use of natural resources in an efficient, economically viable, environmentally compatible, and socially responsible manner.

THE ECOLOGICAL PARADIGM

The College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences adopted an "ecological paradigm" in the early 1990s. Faculty and students in the School support this concept and its focus on producing natural resource commodities in an economically viable manner while protecting environmental quality and our social fabric. Dean Bobby D. Moser describes the Ecological Paradigm in "An Agricultural Call to Arms: Addressing Society's Concerns". Click here to read this article.
