Buckeye Ecologists Symposium Changes Focus

A tradition began 2 years ago of holding an annual "Buckeye Ecologists Symposium" for everyone involved in ecological research from across OSU, including regional campuses. This year, the Symposium will be held the middle of Winter Quarter. The focus will change as this year’s Symposium will be devoted to Ecological Outreach and Service and encouraging those involved in outreach or service in ecologically related fields to make presentations, loosely, from groups that would like your help and assistance. There will also be a workshop about the need for service and outreach and how to get involved. This is a general outline that remains flexible. We have the help and support of Leanne Jablonski from the University of Dayton and the Marianist Environmental Education Center. Among many accomplishments, Dr. Jablonski is a leader in the Environmental Justice Section of ESA.

The symposium cannot continue without additional involvement and enthusiasm.  Katie Martin has taken the lead on orchestrating this year’s Symposium and volunteers are needed. As we are all busy, we try and divide tasks so that it doesn't consume too much of any one person's time, but we need a critical mass. If you are interested in getting involved, please email Katie at  martin.1678@osu.edu. All interested students, staff and faculty are welcome to become involved.
