January 2013

SENR launches new website with added features and tools, including online forms, contact us and an intranet.
SENR's Academic Team offers innovative student-centered services, including Express Services. The Academic Team assisted over 550 students during Express Services in 2013!
Professor Warren Dick's research shows that coal plant byproduct, if spread on farms, could help fight Lake Erie's algae.
   

February 2013

SENR students participated in the 10th Annual CFAES Undergraduate Research Forum.
Environment, Economy, Development and Sustainability (EEDS) major helps solidify Ohio State as winner of the second annual Environmental March Madness tournament.
Faculty, graduate students and staff made research presentations at the world's largest aquaculture conference.

The Great Lakes Early Detection Network (GLEDN) app was released for iPhone and iPad to help citizen scientists report suspected invasive species.
SENR undergraduates awarded Top Honors at the annual Denman Undergraduate Research Forum.
   

April 2013

SENR undergraduates recognized for achievements at the CFAES Annual Recognition Banquet.
125 volunteers clear nearly 2 acres of honeysuckle, plant 325 trees and shrubs and pick up a half-dumpster of trash at the 5th Annual Earth Day event at the Schiermeier Wetlands.
SENR faculty and research were recognized at the Annual OARDC Conference.
SENR co-hosts fifth Midwest-Great Lakes Society for Ecological Restoration.
Ohio State Academy of Teaching presents Founder's Award to Professor Joseph Donnermeyer,
   

May 2013

U.S. Agriculture Acting Deputy Secretary visits SENR's Schiermeier Wetlands and discusses the importance of soil conservation and wetland protection.
Faculty members Eric Toman and Kris Jaeger led study abroad programs in Australia and Fiji.
Associate Professor Roger Williams led a forest and wildlife research study abroad program to China.
Assistant Professor Eric McConnell launches factsheet series on Economic Impact of Ohio's Forest Product Industry.
SENR brings stakeholders together for a symposium on the role of the School and other Schools of Natural Resources and Environment in addressing and providing effective leadership in response to the growing list of 21st Century environmental and natural resource challenges.
   

June 2013

SENR graduate students Lauren Blyth and Bryant Dossman were selected to attend the prestigious Joint 2013 MBI-NIMBioS-CAMBAM Summer Graduate Workshop - Connecting Biological Data with Mathematical Models.  
Research Scientist Libby Dayton's work on the Phosphorus Risk Index makes headlines.
The Ohio Environmental Leaders Institute (OELI) kicks off a 3-session program called 'Learn, lead, partner for a sustainable Ohio.'
SENR receptions recognize Ron Hendrick's leadership and the service of retiring SENR faculty Craig Davis, Earl Epstein and John Heywood.

Through collaboration with University of Maryland, SENR researchers help develop a tool to assess sustainability knowledge. The Bulletin of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) highlights The Assessment of Sustainability Knowledge Tool
Faculty advisor Brian Slater and Susan Burks led a group of 20 students who studied abroad in Iceland.
Pay it Forward event at Schiermeier Wetlands attracts 250 freshmen volunteers.

Associate Professor Stan Gehrt's coyote research makes headlines.

Over 600 student poster presentations are made at the annual Environmental Science Student Symposium.

Assistant Professor Brian Lower's iTunes U Course makes the Top 10.
Doctoral student Patrick Bell selected as U.S. Borlaug Fellows in Global Food Security, a program funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
