What Experiences Qualify?

Priority will be given to experiences you completed in 2025 or are otherwise currently participating in. You should have been doing the experience for long enough that you can complete an entire poster about it and can talk about it in-depth.

Experiences should be relevant to your major / career interests

  • Internship
  • Seasonal job, campus job, or other job relevant to your major / career
  • Research
  • Global Education
  • Professional conference participation (either as a presenter or attendee)
  • Stone Laboratory participation – through Semester at Stone Lab, REU, taking classes, or other participation relevant to your major/ career
  • Volunteer engagement related to your major (preferably something you consistently take part in, not something you only did one time. Exceptions may be made for particularly robust one-day experiences.)
  • Service/ leadership role/ competition / significant student org involvement (seat on Student Govt, Student Council, etc.)

What to Expect:

  1. When applying to present at the SENR Student Experience Expo, you will be asked to briefly describe the hands-on experience about which you wish to present.

  1. Once notified of your acceptance as a presenter, you should move forward with making your poster, which you must print out and bring to the event. You will be prompted to send a digital copy of your poster to the event organizers a few weeks before the event so we can add it to our Student Experiences Gallery on the SENR website.

  1. At the event, you will be given a space and materials to hang your poster. Students, staff, faculty, and other attendees will come by to look at your poster and hear from you about your experience. The ENR 1100 Survey class will attend the Expo as a class requirement, so a large portion of your audience will be students who are new to Ohio State University and are looking for ideas and advice about how to get involved in professional development experience. We ask that you remain by your poster for the entire event.

  1. Select faculty and staff will serve as judges, and poster awards will be announced near the end of the event. Award recipients will receive fun prizes and will be invited to present their posters during the open networking portion of an upcoming Enviornmental Professionals Network program.
