The SENR Seminar Series welcomes Dr. Martin Stapanian, Research Ecologist, US Geological Survey Lake Erie Biological Station, who will present Soil and Vegetation Indices for Wetland Quality: A Predictive Modeling Approach.
Extensive losses of wetland habitats and their unique communities are major environmental concerns. Habitat destruction is associated with loss of biodiversity and potential compromises in ecosystem function. Developing new tools to capture the biological indicators of these systems are important and two key features that can aid in the assessment of wetland quality are soil and vegetation indices. These new wetland assessment tools can help further inform management decisions regarding mitigation site selection and performance monitoring criteria.
The SENR Seminar begins at 4:10 p.m in 103 Kottman Hall with a video link to 123 Williams Hall on the Wooster campus.
