Backyard Bluebirding Basics & Nest Box Trail Management

These opportunities will be held at the Stratford Ecological Center, 3083 Liberty Rd., Delaware, OH  43015

Backyard Bluebirding Basics (9:00 - 11:30 a.m.)
Learn the basics to get started managing your backyard habitat for native cavity nesting birds such as Eastern Bluebirds and Carolina Chickadees.  Join Darlene Sillick and Paula Ziebarth, Ohio Bluebird Society Area Contacts as they discuss how to attract birds, good nest box design, habitat and monitoring requirements for success.  Join us for lunch (separate cost) after the program. $10 per participant

Bluebirder Lunch (11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.)
Tom and Rosemary Domin will show us some of their wonderful bird videos while we eat and you will be able to visit with other experienced trail monitors.  Wild Birds Unlimited will have a booth of items to sell.

Lunch options include: Bringing your own lunch; $5 for Italian Sub from Delaware Community Market; or $5 for ham and cheese sub from Delaware Community Market

Nest Box Trail Management (1:00 - 3:30 p.m.)
Best practice techniques for trail monitoring and management. Join Darlene Sillick and Paula Ziebarth, Ohio Bluebird Society Area Contactsussed for this very helpful session for officials and volunteers interested in establishing nest box trails that can house different native cavity nesting birds such as Eastern Bluebirds, Carolina Chickadees, Tree Swallows, Purple Martins, and others.  Beginners wishing to monitor a trail may enjoy attending this session too.  We hope you can join us for lunch (separate cost) just before this program. $10 per participant
