Earth Day at the Schiermeier Wetland Research Park

Apr 20, 2013, 10:00am - 12:00pm

In celebration of Earth Day 2013 The Wilma H. Schiermeier Olentangy River Wetland Research Park (352 W. Dodridge St.) will be hosting an event on Saturday, April 20th from 10am to noon.  We're asking for volunteers to help with invasive species removal, tree and shrub planting and general river/site clean-up.  Together we can make a difference!  Please join us at 9:30am for coffee and bagels (compliments of our partner Sierra Club).  Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District and the Central Ohio Rain Garden Initiative will have informational displays on rain gardens, rain barrels and conservation easements.  Grilled hot dogs and chips will be served starting at noon.

We're especially grateful this year to have received a donation of 300 trees and shrubs from Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District and an additional 75 trees from the City of Columbus.  We have a good supply of tools, but also encourage volunteers to BYO tools if you're able (shovels, loppers, pruners and gloves).  As always, this is a rain or shine event (we'll cancel if there's thunder and lightening).

Bring a friend!  We look forward to seeing you on the 20th!   Click here to view and share flyer.
