EPN November Breakfast Club
The Environmental Professional Network will present insight2050 — Environmental Benefits Stand Out as We Shape a Strong, Sustainable, Healthy, and Beautiful Greater Columbus Community. Presenter and moderator for this program will be Kerstin Carr, PhD, Director of Planning and Environment, MORPC. Panelists will be James Schimmer, Director of Economic Development and Planning, Franklin County, Ohio and Glenn Marzluf, P.E., General Manager/CEO, Del-Co Water Company.
Central Ohio is projected to grow by more than 500,000 people by 2050. Insight2050 is an effort to prepare Central Ohio for that future growth and changing demographics and consumer preferences. It generated objective metrics to help inform local decision making. The analysis behind the project relied on the RapidFire model, developed by project consultants Calthorpe Associates. The model tests impacts of varying land use patterns to accommodate projected growth. Insight2050 is not a regional plan but rather a tool that provides key data to decision makers to help inform their choices. Presenters at this EPN breakfast will focus on the environmental outcomes of the various land use patterns that could emerge in coming decades in Central Ohio.
Insight 2050 partners: Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission, Urban Land Institute Columbus and Columbus 2020.
This breakfast will be held at the Nationwide and Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center. For additional information and to register for this event please visit epn.osu.edu.
