First Earth Care Day at the Gwynne Conservation Area
This year on Monday, April 20th from 9:00 a.m. to noon, we have a volunteer opportunity available as we strive to improve the Gwynne Conservation Area.
We are looking for volunteers to help with one of three objectives.
First -- we would like to save as many trees as possible by transplanting them from a discontinued demonstration to their new home in the natural riparian buffer next to Deer Creek. The trees and their new homes will be dug prior to the event. We are asking for volunteers to place the trees into the holes and backfill.
Second -- volunteers will walk the new Christmas Tree Demonstration to watch for honeysuckle growth and pull small sprouts while they are easy to pull.
Third -- the objective will be to trim and bag the teasel heads in the prairie. To show our appreciation, lunch will be served at the cabin at noon.
If you or someone you know would like to volunteer, please contact Mary Slyby at 614.688.3421 or slyby.5@osu.edu.
