Jim Grossman Public Lecture

Feb 17, 2015, 3:30pm - 5:00pm

Jim Grossman, PhD, executive director of the American Historical Association, discusses careers for graduate students outside of the academy at the Wexner Center for the Arts Film/Video Theater. Limited seating is available for RSVP at www.gradsch.osu.edu/eventregistration.

Patrick S. Osmer, Dean of the Graduate School write:

I know that graduate students pursue a range of careers as a result of their master’s or PhD degree training.

However, many of you (and your advisors) struggle with how to translate that preparation into the successful pursuit of careers, especially those outside of traditional faculty researcher roles. Forward-thinking graduate programs are also considering how their graduate programs might be structured in light of the range of career options their graduates pursue.

I have invited Jim Grossman, PhD, executive director of the American Historical Association, to join our Ohio State conversation on this topic. Jim has written a great deal about this in the Chronicle of Higher Education and elsewhere.

Please join me and Jim on Tuesday, Feb. 17,  3:30 p.m., in the Wexner Film/Video Theater, for what I know will be an engaging and thought-provoking presentation. RSVP
