SENR Autumn 2014 Seminar Series
The SENR Seminar Series welcomes Shahzeen Attari, Assistant Professor, Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs, who will present Perceptions of Electricity and Water Use.
Dr. Attari will discuss findings from her research on electricity and water use. For example, when asked for the single most effective strategy they could implement to conserve energy and water, most people surveyed mention “curtailment” (e.g., turning off lights, shorter showers) rather than “efficiency improvements” (e.g., more efficient light bulbs, low-flow toilets)—in direct contrast to experts’ recommendations. And when asked to recommend conservation strategies, these individuals want to incorporate easier (non-effective) behaviors for themselves and want others to implement the harder, more effective behaviors.
This seminar is co-sponsored by the OSU Center for Latin American Studies.
The SENR Seminar begins at 4:10 p.m in 103 Kottman Hall with a video link to 123 Williams Hall on the Wooster campus.
