SENR Autumn 2014 Seminar Series
The SENR Seminar Series welcomes Cinnamon Carlarne, Associate Professor, OSU Michael E. Moritz College of Law, who will present The Wager of Our Generation: Climate Change Beyond International Environmental Law.
Global climate change is a problem that defies traditional legal boundaries and planetary boundaries. The problem is massive and recognition is widespread. In contrast, response has been weak and characterized by widespread governance failings even as we continue to operate largely within these legal boundaries. James Gustave Speth posed the following question in 2004: “Can international environmental law deal with the big issues?” In this seminar, Prof. Carlarne will unpack this important question and debunk the myth that the climate change failure is a failure of international environmental law. She will argue that by treating climate change as a solely a legal problem sidelines the real issues, constrains our responses, and inflicts harm.
The SENR Seminar begins at 4:10 p.m in 103 Kottman Hall with a video link to 123 Williams Hall on the Wooster campus.
