Surface Water Quality and Microbial Communities of Three Ohio Watersheds
An Honors Thesis presentation will be made by Caitlin Sheban (Elizabeth Toman, advisor), titled Surface Water Quality and Microbial Communities of Three Ohio Watersheds, in 370 Kottman Hall.
This project assesses the correlation between the amount of suspended sediment and E. coli density in three creeks. The research site is located in Nobel County and is characteristic of much of Eastern Ohio's landscape. The results imply that sediments can transport microorganisms and reiterate the importance of best management practices to reduce sediments in streams.
