Youth Scientist Curriculum Adult Education Class - day 2
OSU Extension, USDA Forest Service, Ohio Woodland Stewards, and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency-Ohio Environmental Education Fund are sponsoring this 2-day adult education class on the Mansfield campus showcasing a new hands-on curriculum being developed for you to learn about invasive species utilizing your own neighborhoods, school yards and local parks.
The Youth Scientist adult education class will introduce teaching professionals to a relevant natural resources and invasive species curriculum that will teach students both inside and outside the classroom skills and understanding of the scientific method. The curriculum involves students in the entire scientific process by engagin them in research from developing and testing hypotheses to reporting and presenting their findings. Teaching professionals will learn hands-on techniques to help youth become scientists, environmental stewards, and develop skills to address future environmental issues as contributing members of their community. This two-day class (15 hours) will also arm teachers with the Youth Scientist curriculum as well as a teaching kit to get started!
Registration is open until July 31st on the Ohio Woodlands Stewards website.
The cost is $225 with graduate credit or $50 without graduate credit. For the graduate credit, participants may register for one semester hour through Ashland University.
