Join SENR in congratulating Dr. Chris Winslow, director of Ohio Sea Grant, who was recognized at the International Association for Great Lakes Research (IAGLR)’s 68th Annual Conference on Great Lakes Research, June 2-6 in Milwaukee, WI with the Large Lake Champion Award. Chris was recognized for his capacity to consistently bring together people—researchers, agency staff, community members, and decision makers—to address the many challenges facing the Laurentian Great Lakes. Faculty member Sayeed Mehmood has been awarded a 2025-2026 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award for “Enhancing the teaching of economics and policy in forestry and environmental sciences curricula.” From January – April 2026, Dr. Mehmood will be based at the Institute of Forestry and Environmental Sciences (IFESCU), University of Chittagong, Bangladesh. Olivia DiGiovine, who graduated in the spring and advised by faculty member Nicole Sintov received the Undergraduate Student Research Award for the paper, "Consumers Exhibit Disposal Bias in Product Sustainability Judgments" from Division 34 of the American Psychological Association. The award recognizes outstanding original research conducted by an undergraduate student or team of undergraduate students on any topic in environmental, conservation, or population psychology. 

Faculty member Marijke Hecht was invited to write a white paper and present the ideas as part of a panel at the Convocation on the Status of Informal Science and Engineering Education hosted by the National Academies, June 16-17, 2025, in Washington, DC.  Dr. Hecht’s white paper is entitled “Supporting science and engineering learning through an ecosystem approach.”

The Water Management Association of Ohio (WMAO) is accepting Abstracts for their 54th Annual Meeting & Symposium, Flowing Forward: Ohio's Water in Motion, Nov. 12-13, 2025. Details to submit Abstracts available here >>

Abstract submission for the annual Interdisciplinary Water Symposium — sponsored by the Ohio Water Resources Center — opened July 1 and will extend until September 12, 2025. Abstracts can be submitted for oral presentations, flash talks, or poster sessions. Registration closes October 15, 2025. Facilities Operations and Development (FOD) Recycling Opportunities

Ohio State is taking steps to address textile waste via a pilot program with the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO). Through Friday, Aug. 1, faculty, staff, and students will have the opportunity to responsibly dispose of their end-of-life clothing through a dedicated recycling drop-off location on campus. Learn more>>

Updated CFAES Ground Transportation (Mileage) Log

An updated CFAES Ground Transportation (Mileage) Log has been added to the CFAES Finance website. The only updates are clarifications of existing University and CFAES policies and practices at the top of the form. Please use this updated form for your next ground transportation reimbursement request. We strongly recommended not saving a version of the form - please access a form from this website for each new reimbursement request. These forms are frequently updated may be declined or have processing delays if an outdated version is used.
