Stone Laboratory Announces Classes for Summer 2025 - Ohio State’s island campus will teach 20+ courses and workshops this summer with scholarships available!
The summer 2025 course schedule is now available for interested high school students, college students, teachers, and the public to attend Stone Laboratory, The Ohio State University’s island campus on Lake Erie.
Students can earn two college credits in one- or two-week courses and four credits in four- or six- week courses this coming summer in subjects like aquatic biology, ecology, and fish taxonomy.
Stone Laboratory, The Ohio State University’s island campus on Lake Erie, hosts 20 college-credit courses and resume-building workshops each and every summer on Gibraltar Island in Put-in-Bay harbor.
These Stone Lab classes, as part of the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences, provide students with a hands-on outdoor science experience in areas such as amphibians, birds, fish, wetland plants, and foundational knowledge about numerous Lake Erie ecosystems. Introductory courses are open to advanced high school students – sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have already taken biology – as well as to college undergraduates in any major, while the wide-variety of advanced level courses are ideal for science majors looking for practical experience in their chosen field.
