October 26: Invasive Plants: ID, Removal and What's Next - This class will cover identification and removal options for some invasive plants that many of us deal with day in and day out. Once you know what it is and how to get rid of it what should you do next? We will cover options for dealing with the site after removal of the invasives and discuss plant options as well. October 29: The first Ohio Bat Festival (during Bat Week) from 12 - 5 pm at the Nationwide & Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center (2201 Fred Taylor Dr, Columbus, OH 43210) featuring exciting multimedia presentations, family-friendly activities, and interesting exhibits highlighting the ecology, diversity, and conservation of bats in Ohio and worldwide. The event is free and nature enthusiasts of all ages are invited! The event is sponsored by the Carter Lab in EEOB, and the OSU Ecology and Evolution Club. Marne Titchenell is one of the multimedia presenters!
October 29: A day in Yellow Springs with SENR Peer Mentors. The excursion includes a 6-mile hike in the Clifton Gorge/John Bryan State Park, free time in Yellow Springs (lunch on your own), and a stop at Young's Jersey Dairy on the way home.
October 30: Film screening hosted by the Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association policy program of Kiss The Ground, a 2020 film unpacking the ways in which soil may be the key to combating climate change with SENR faculty member Scott Demyan and graduate student (and assistant coach for Ohio State's Soil Judging Team) Margaret Borders as discussion panelists.
