Congratulations to Post Doctoral Scholar in Civil & Environmental Engineering Wuhuan Zhang - a rising star of the American Water Resources Association! Wuhuan has been awarded the 2024 American Water Resources Association (AWRA) Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Professional Development Scholarship established by the AWRA Board of Directors to bring diverse perspectives and support career advancement of under-represented professionals in the field of water resources and increase representation in AWRA. AWRA is the preeminent multidisciplinary association for information exchange, professional development and education about water resources and related issues. Wuhuan is a postdoctoral scholar in the School of Environment and Natural Resources, working in Dr. Lyon’s research group to lead the research on monitoring performance of four cascading waterway systems installed in the agricultural landscapes across Ohio to evaluate efficiency in removing nutrients and total suspended sediments from stormwater.

Artist and graduate student in the School of Environment and Natural Resources at The Ohio State University Anna Rose was named by Environment for the Americas as Featured Artist for the 2024 World Migratory Bird Day (WMBD) - celebrated this year on both May 11 and October 12 to align with the cyclic nature of bird migration in different hemispheres. Faculty member Natasha Myhal was invited to give a keynote at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign on Sept. 24, hosted by the Institute for Genomic Biology and the American Indian Studies Program. Dr. Myhal's talk was titled “The Living Earth: Indigenous Science and Reciprocal Relationships with Non-Human Beings.” 

The Terrestrial Wildlife Ecology Lab will have a strong presence at the upcoming 31st Annual Conference of The Wildlife Society (https://twsconference.org/), which will be held October 19-23, in Baltimore, Maryland. Graduate students and faculty will present posters and oral presentations. 

The SENR Seminar Series will resume this week on October 15. PhD student Jess Dong will present, "Understanding the Influence of Climate and Landscape Change on Species Assemblage" at 4:00 p.m. in room 103 Kottman Hall. 

ESS Lab Manager Ellen Eilers and others will serve on a panel Undergraduate Research Opportunities in Sustainability on October 25 to discuss exciting ways for students to get involved in groundbreaking projects across diverse sustainability fields, while enjoying lunch.
