Next week the SENR Seminar Series welcomes PhD students Daphney Bonner who will present, "Understanding the Demographic, Environmental, and Health Impacts of Historical Federal Transportation Policy" and Julia Glandorff who will present, "Darter Reintroduction Success: The Role of Life History Traits Across Three Species" at 4:00 p.m. in room 103 Kottman Hall. Collaborators on the “Improving Weather and Climate Understanding and Teaching Among Ohio Environmental Professionals and Volunteers” are facilitating statewide workshops to increase knowledge, skills, and capacity of environmental educators and bolster access to programs and resources on Ohio relevant weather and climate topics for use in both public and professional environmental education. The team will be at the upcoming Annual Appalachian Green Teachers Conference October 31 – November 1 at Burr Oak Lodge & Conference Center. 

Faculty member Kerry Ard will be a featured speaker at The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium Teen Eco Summit, a yearlong event which engages more than 400 students with a focus on conservation, sustainability and driving change within their communities.

A new book authored by Julia Freedgood "Planning Sustainable and Resilient Food Systems: From Soil to Soil" and published by Routledge includes a 4-page box highlight on the Wayne County, OH Pathways to Prosperity Project in the chapter on "Principles and Practices for Food and Agriculture". The Pathways to Prosperity project is led by SENR faculty and funded by USDA.

Faculty members Marijke Hecht and Jeremy Brooks have been selected to participate in the first Sustainability Pedagogy Learning Community, coordinated through a partnership between the Michael V. Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning and the Sustainability Institute. Cohort members will explore innovative approaches to the pedagogy of sustainability to design and integrate new learning experiences into Ohio State’s General Education program and their respective disciplinary curricula.
