Ohio Water Resources Center seeks research grant pre-proposals - The Ohio Water Resources Center (WRC) is seeking research grant pre-proposals to address current water resources issues within Ohio. This grant program aims to stimulate water-related research relevant to Ohio to the point where a highly competitive external proposal can be developed. Priority will be given to proposals that address: water resilience and security, water technology, or water quality. Projects that incorporate concepts of water equity, including environmental justice and socioeconomic drivers related to water, are also sought. (FOR STUDENTS) Sustainability Competition: Win $60k and Travel to Paris for Free! - Ohio State Energy Partners is hosting the second ever Smart Campus Challenge!
Teams of up to four students will propose campus sustainability projects for a chance to win $60,000 in project funding. The winning team will also travel for free to ENGIE’s headquarters in Paris, France in the summer of 2024!!!
Projects can support any area of sustainability, from energy conservation, to resource management, to ecosystem restoration, to environmental policy, and more. Projects must target one of Ohio State’s campuses and support one of OSU’s resource stewardship goals, which can be found here.
The winner of the 2018-2019 challenge was the Food Recovery Network, a student organization that focuses on rescuing food waste from campus dining halls. They used the funds to purchase a car to be able to transport campus food waste. This supported Ohio State’s Zero Waste Initiative.
Applications for the Smart Campus Challenge close November 17th! Submissions will be received via Microsoft Form and will require three components: a project overview, a project budget, and a project management plan. The top 10 submissions will present at a judging event on March 2nd, 2024. There, the judges will select the best project to receive the grand prize.
