Lecture series explores red tide, Everglades protection, climate change, environmental sustainability

Annual 'Moonlight on the Marsh' lectures begin Jan. 10

Florida Gulf Coast University’s Everglades Wetland Research Park in Naples is presenting four preeminent national and international speakers in its seventh annual “Moonlight on the Marsh” Distinguished Lecture Series in early 2019.  The free lectures, which run from Jan. 10 through February 14, will explore timely topics including solving red tide and blue-green harmful algal blooms (HABs), protecting the Florida Everglades from the same water that is causing these HABs, wetland sequestration of carbon from the atmosphere, recycling eco-technologies, and how our government protects (and perhaps now does not protect) clean water 50 years after the burning Cuyahoga River in Ohio. The lectures are made possible by a generous donation from Bernard F. and Susan Master of Naples, Florida and Columbus, Ohio.
