Agricultural Cooperatives are a major link in the food supply chain. Through leverage achieved in cooperatives, at minimum tens of thousands of farmers around the world are able to achieve the economic advantages of scale in bringing their products to market. Accordingly, with expanding world populations and the attention on food security and supply, cooperatives face complex and diverse sustainability challenges.
The sustainability challenges faced by cooperatives create significant employment and internship opportunities for students with interests in sustainability and agribusiness. To help bring these opportunities into focus, the CFAES Center for Cooperative Business and Community Education and Development will bring cooperative executives to campus on six occasions in 2016-2017 for briefings on sustainability issues faced by agricultural cooperatives and related employment and internship opportunities.
As background reading for all six briefings, students are encouraged to review a paper which discusses the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals from the perspective of cooperatives at www.ilo.org/wcmsp5/groups/public/---ed_emp/documents/publication/wcms_240640.pdf.
Don’t miss this opportunity to learn about career opportunities directly from executives who lead organizations seeking to hire talented, energetic, and skilled people like you!
