Graduate Exit Seminar - Rosemary Koontz
Plan to join Rosemary Koontz's graduate exit seminar on October 26, 2023, at 9:00 am in Kottman Hall 333D or via Zoom. Rosemary will present, "Evaluating phenological variation of Dutch elm disease-tolerant American elm selections and their use by avian species to inform landscape-level restoration opportunities."
Abstract: This study examines five Dutch elm disease-tolerant American elm genotypes and the effects of location, genotype, and the interaction of location and genotype on spring phenology - flower and leaf bud development - in central Ohio over two field seasons and northern New England over one field season. We also collected data on bird presence and use of the study trees in central Ohio as a foraging substrate and food resource to inform decision-making on the restoration of this species to the landscape.
