Lauren E. Bates' Doctoral Scholarly Seminar
A Doctoral Scholarly Seminar will be presented by Lauren E. Bates, PhD Candidate in Environmental Social Sciences. She will present Beyond Biophilia: Connectedness to Nature and its Role in Human Development in 245 Kottman Hall.
Human beings aren’t just drawn to nature and natural space; we need it. Mounting evidence suggests not only that people who spend time in natural space are physically and emotionally healthier, but also that lack of contact with nature results in people who develop suboptimally, and as adults, experience developmental decline.
This talk explores research related to access and time spent in natural space, and cognitive, emotional and physical wellness.
