World Soil Day is a global day of recognition and celebration of soil as an important natural resource. Designated as Dec. 5 by the United Nations in 2013 in response to the recommendation by the International Union of Soil Sciences, World Soil Day serves as a day to advocate for this precious natural resource and showcase ongoing research in the field of soil science.

The initiative and the organizing committee for OSU’s World Soil Day Celebration originated out of the Soil Science Seminar at the School of Environmental and Natural Resources; the group is composed of graduate students, researchers and faculty.

Best regards,
