Pacific Island Agriculture: Alternative Pig Waste Management for improved stream water quality and soil fertility
The Agroecosystems Management Program is hosting a visiting speaker from the University of Hawaii, Dr. Jonathan Deenik. His interdisciplinary talk is titled "Pacific Island Agriculture: Alternative Pig Waste Management for improved stream water quality and soil fertility,” and will cover his recent work on Ponpei, in the Federated States of Micronesia.
Dr. Deenik has been involved in cutting-edge research in Hawaiian Islands, continental U.S., Pacific Basin, Myanmar, and Nepal, addressing challenges communities face in maintaining environmental quality (water, soil, and air), agricultural productivity, and human health.
