Abstract: The U.S. healthcare system has a tremendous impact on planetary health, accounting for up to 10% of national greenhouse gas emissions and resulting in detectable levels of pharmaceutical pollution in 80% our country's surface waters. By using an interdisciplinary approach to understanding the social factors that drive these environmental impacts, we can identify points of intervention through practices and policies that can enhance health for both people and planet.
