SENR Seminar Series - Enhancing water sector resilience through governance and regulatory reforms
Sridhar Vedachalam, PhD, director of water at the Environmental Policy Innovation Center will present, Enhancing water sector resilience through governance and regulatory reforms on Thursday, April 16, 2020. Join via Zoom at 4:10 p.m.
About the talk:
The U.S. water sector faces a number of challenges. However, in contrast to the 20th century when the challenges were largely chemical, biological, and physical, the most formidable obstacles ahead are social, economic, and ultimately political. While new technology may still help us make marginal improvements in water quality, contaminant detection and removal, and compliance; sustainable changes to the entire system can only be achieved through institutional reforms, effective governance, and better application of regulatory practices. Dr. Vedachalam will summarize findings from a recent report that captured the insights of water sector leaders and practioners about how to improve health outcomes and address inequity through reforms in the water sector.
