SENR Seminar Series welcomes Dr. Adam Levine
The School of Environment and Natural Resources Seminar Series welcomes Dr. Adam Levine, SNF Agora Professor of Health Policy & Management at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, who will present, "Policymakers’ Unmet Desire for Science" starting at 4:00 p.m. in room 103 Kottman Hall or via Zoom.
About the talk:
We often think of policymakers as either pro-science or anti-science. In this talk, I argue for a third possibility: some of them may have an unmet desire for science. Using a series of nationally-representative surveys and randomized-controlled trials, I study how to surface and meet this unmet desire. Topically, my studies focus on state and local policymakers in the United States, and a wide variety of areas of scientific research that are relevant to policy challenges they are facing. The goal of this talk is to provide insights that are both interesting and actionable, including evidence-based strategies that attendees can implement (if they wish) to deepen their own connections between research and policy.
