A Honors Thesis Presentation will be held by Dustin Kitchen. He will present Structural Differences in Community Garden Design and Impacts on Perceived Impacts of Programming in 245 Kottman Hall.

Community gardening programs are present in many communities throughout Ohio. Little research has looked into the relationship of structural factors of a garden and the perceived impacts garden leaders see from their work. This study examines how various structural factors of a garden may impact the longevity of the programming and impacts perceived by garden leadership. Garden leaders from throughout Ohio filled out an online survey regarding questions about their garden. Preliminary findings show that there is a weak relationship between leadership structure and funding to program longevity and perceived impacts. In order to better structure program delivery, garden leadership should strongly consider where they receive their funding and how they structure their leadership team.
