The School of Environment and Natural Resources (SENR) is an innovative and intimate place to learn. We take pride in knowing that each of our students will have a personal academic experience no matter what major they choose. Our faculty and staff understand that the study of our environment is diverse and constantly changing, therefore it is our mission to educate our students to recognize the value of this changing world and develop ways to ensure its health. Graduates of our program will receive an education that will enable them to understand environmental issues, lead those around them, and be competitive in a career landscape that is increasingly challenging and selective.
A Note from Dr. Jeff Sharp, Director of the School of Environment and Natural Resources
Thank you for considering the School of Environment and Natural Resources at The Ohio State University. Our focus on the interactions of people with their environment, sets us apart from other programs, and can set you apart as a graduate. An integrated foundation in both the natural and social sciences forms the basis for what we do, what you’ll learn and be able to put into practice. We’ll help you understand the world around you, and give you the tools to make decisions, solve problems and seize opportunities related to sustaining human activities and the natural environment. We can provide opportunities for you to be effective in your own backyard, or on the other side of the globe; it’s really up to you. Our faculty, staff and students comprise a community of over 750 scholars engaged in education, research and outreach in the environment. We come from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives, but we share common goals and passions. Spend some time finding out about us, and then come join us. We can make you better, you can make us better, and together we can make the world – your world -- better.
