The Environment, Economy, Development and Sustainability (EEDS) major is a multi-disciplinary degree program that focuses on the human dimensions of sustainability. This cutting-edge major provides students with the opportunity to manage change, think holistically, and assess sustainable development in a variety of settings. EEDS will equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to launch a career in sustainability in the private, public or non-profit sectors.
Students may choose 1 of the following 4 specializations in which to focus:
Sustainability and Business- This specialization addresses why and how businesses and organizations are incorporating sustainability into their practices, both on the strategic and operational levels.
Environmental Economics and Policy Analysis- Students in this specialization will gain the knowledge and skills needed to determine and express the monetary value of ecosystem services in our market-based policies, environmental regulations, and international agreements.
Community Development- This specialization provides a detailed understanding of community planning, local economies, and social change. Students will learn how to best implement positive social, economic, and environmental change within a community.
International Development- This specialization describes practices of sustainable development on the international level. Coursework focuses on reducing global poverty by promoting sustainable livelihoods worldwide.
