NEW STUDENTS IN SENR: WHAT TO EXPECT
Summer orientation programs for new first-year students are delivered in person. Three-weeks prior to your orientation date, you will be invited to participate in an Orientation Carmen course with fellow students in the School of Environment and Natural Resources to prepare you for this program. The Carmen course contains a pre-orientation to-do list as well as resources and informational videos. You will also get to know other students in your orientation program by participating in discussion boards.
For New First-Year Students:
Academic Session on Day Two
Beginning at 9am on Day Two of your orientation program you will meet the SENR Academic Team to learn more about your degree and your new academic home. Some of the topics we will cover are:
- General information about SENR and the majors we offer
- Academic Advising
- The basic components of an Ohio State degree
- The process of creating your first-semester schedule
- ENR 1100 (Survey course)
- Experiential learning opportunities specifically designed for first-year students
Following the academic overview, you will plan your fall schedule with the support of academic advisors and register for your classes.
For Transfer Students:
Academic Session
Orientation programs are delivered online for transfer students.You will participate in a Carmen Zoom group session led by SENR Academic Advisors and then create and finalize your fall schedule in an individual advising appointment. Some of the topics we will cover are:
- General information about SENR and the majors we offer
- Academic Advising
- The basic components of an Ohio State degree
- The process of creating your first-semester schedule
- ENR 1100 (Survey course)
Three-weeks prior to your orientation date, you will also be invited to participate in an Orientation Carmen course with fellow transfer students in the School of Environment and Natural Resources to prepare you for this virtual orientation program.
