Orientation

NEW STUDENTS IN SENR: WHAT TO EXPECT

Note: Due to safety concerns during the COVID-19 pandemic, summer orientation programs for students entering Autumn 2020 semester will be delivered remotely. You will be invited to participate in an Orientation Carmen course with fellow students in the School of Environment and Natural Resources. The Carmen course is where you will access information, resources, activities, advising presentations, and participate in discussions with students and staff. 

For New First-Years:

Academic Session on Day One

On the afternoon of the first day of orientation, you will participate in a Carmen Zoom session led by SENR Academic Advisors. Some of the topics we will cover are:

  • General information about SENR and the majors we offer
  • Academic Advising
  • The basic components of an Ohio State degree
  • The process of creating your first-semester schedule
  • ENR 1100 (Survey course)

Academic Session on Day Two

On the second day of orientation, you will:

  • Meet with an academic advisor for a virtual one-on-one advising appointment
  • Discuss your first-semester schedule
  • Schedule your classes
     

For Transfer Students:

Academic Session

You will participate in a Carmen Zoom session led by SENR Academic Advisors and create your first semester schedule of classes.  Some of the topics we will cover are:

  • General information about SENR and the majors we offer
  • Academic Advising
  • The basic components of an Ohio State degree
  • The process of creating your first-semester schedule
  • ENR 1100 (Survey course)
