We're the Ones Who Keep it Local

Laura Kington, a rising senior majoring in Environment, Economy, Development, and Sustainability with the community development specialization, is an intern for the Franklin County Local Food Council (FCLFC) in Columbus. “FCLFC is made up of volunteers from diverse areas related to our local food system and strives to recognize and address potential improvements to our food system through three working groups: supply chain and economic development, access, and policy. I assist the council with administrative and communications work, such as building and managing the new website and taking notes at each of the council and working group meetings. Through my internship, I am pursuing my interest in food systems and community development as I learn the current environment in Columbus and am getting the chance to build relationships with a wide variety of local, food-related professionals. I am also gaining valuable experience in web development, meeting facilitation, and research."
