Hometown: metro Atlanta, Georgia
Major: Natural Resource Management
Specalization: Administration and Management

Future Career Plans: I plan to work at some intersection of environmental education and conservation.

Favorite Part of SENR/OSU: My favorite part about SENR is learning about topics in class and then being able to recognize those items later on and apply what I have learned to different situations.

Research: I have done three research internships: one with NC A&T University, one with Iowa State University, and one here, at OSU; they were on bacteria prevalence, turtle populations, and algal blooms and water-related items, respectively. My favorite part has been learning from others in the different labs and getting to present my research and speak with members of the public about what research I am conducting and why.

Major: Natural Resource Management
Specalization: Management and Administration

Future Career Plans: I am hoping to go to graduate school for Coastal Zone Management, Marine Science, or a related field. In the future I would love to do field work related to conservation.

Favorite Part of SENR/OSU: I love how passionate every student in the college is. Everyone in the school wants to make a positive impact on the world and it is incredibly inspiring working with students and meeting people of all walks of life who share a common goal.

Research and Internships: In the summer of 2018, I worked as an Environmental Education Intern with the University of Maine. For this program, I got to teach marine science, watershed ecology and conservation to middle school age students. In fall 2018 I worked as an Animal Care Intern in the Shores region with the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, working with the sharks, marine macro-invertebrates and bony fishes. I was able to feed the animals, do water quality testing, clean enclosures, and even train the sharks. I also work in Dr. Gray’s Aquatic Physiological Ecology Lab as an Undergraduate Research Assistant with graduate students who are analyzing the effects of turbidity on African cichlids. I will be beginning my own Research with Distinction project with this lab in spring 2019, to research the effects of turbidity on the mate choice of African cichlids. In summer 2019 I will be working as a Sea Turtle Intern with the Bald Head Island Conservancy in North Carolina. I'm excited to tag and monitor adult sea turtles and help with nest excavations for baby sea turtles when they hatch late in the summer.
