Hourly Student Employee Hire Form

On January 1, 2023, the hourly minimum wage in Ohio increased 80 cents from $9.30 to $10.10 for all non-tipped workers. The minimum hourly rate for tipped workers increased from $4.65 to $5.05 – an increase of 40 cents. System-wide increases for current Ohio State employees were centrally implemented effective January 1, 2023. More information is available in this knowledge article.


This form is to be used for hiring student employees who will work on an hourly basis. Supervisors or division coordinators can complete this form.  Once the form is complete, it should be submitted by your unit.

Note that students cannot hold both a monthly paid (GA) position and a biweekly paid (hourly) position at the same time.  IN addition, students can not work more than 28 hours per week during the academic year. 

Students must be hired by the SENR HR Office prior to starting to work- there are no exceptions to this.
