Eugene Braig, received the Ohio Lake Management Society’s Lifetime Achievement/Distinguished Service award presented at the 50th Annual WMAO Conference, “Engaging Water Professionals Through the Decades” on November 3, 2021.

A winter storm recently made its’ way through Ohio bringing with it colder temperatures, ice and some snow. Continuing SENR’s exploration of winter habitats, we met up with Eugene Braig, Extension program director for Aquatic Ecosystems in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences at The Ohio State University to learn more about the functions of ponds, how winter weather may impact ponds and aquatic life and ways to mitigate for any disruptions.

Congratulations TerrAqua on receiving the Rachel Carson Award for Civic Engagement at the 5th Annual Civic Engagement Banquet on Tuesday, October 23.

Hosted by the Office of Student Life at The Ohio State University the banquet recognizes those in our community making great changes and impacts in civic engagement and service. The Rachel Carson Award recognizes nominees who have demonstrated personal efforts to improve the environment and educated and empowered others in the community to do the same.

Ohio Sea Grant's Stone Laboratory is host to a variety of professional development workshops each year, including one that covers the fish sampling techniques used by the Ohio Division of Wildlife and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency. Those seeking internships or positions as technicians in either organization learn -- and practice -- the exact skills they'll need, and the agencies benefit by having a better trained workforce.
