Welcome back! A new academic year changes the feel of SENR almost overnight. 

Students return, conversations pick up again, and new ones begin. To those joining SENR this fall, welcome. To those returning, we are very happy to see you again. 

One thing we hope you learn quickly (or are reminded of this year) is that SENR is not a place you have to navigate alone. No one expects you to arrive with everything figured out. There are people here to help you make decisions, work through questions, and find opportunities that feel right for you. Our academic advisors, graduate studies team and career development team are all good places to begin. If you are unsure where to start, ask any of us. We are here to help you work through what comes next. 

We also hope you will make time to enjoy being part of this community. Undergraduate students can begin the year at CFAES’s Back 2 School Bash – an annual welcome event hosted by our college and featuring free food trucks, live music, and student organization tables - and Ohio State’s Student Involvement Fair. Undergraduate students seeking employment for Autumn 2026, Spring 2027, and Summer 2027 can attend the CFAES Student Employment Fair on Monday, Aug. 31, from 2:30–4:30 p.m. in the Kottman Hall Lobby/Patio on the Columbus campus.

This fall, we invite the entire SENR community to come together at the Wetlands Open House. Student organizations will also begin meeting soon, and our Beyond the Classroom and GradRoots webpages offer more ways to connect. 

We know that each student’s experience here will be different. That is part of what makes SENR such an interesting place. We look forward to learning what matters to you, hearing about what you are working on, and seeing where your time here leads.
