60th Annual CFAES Banquet Celebrates Undergraduate Achievement

April 7, 2013

Held at the Ohio Union on the Ohio State University campus on April 4, 2013 the 60th Annual Recognition Banquet for the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences and themed "the winner's circle" celebrated and recognized the achievements of undergraduates, faculty and staff.  

Fourteen SENR undergraduates received awards or scholarships, two SENR students were recognized as top 20 seniors, which honors those who have actively promoted their College/School and University by extensive participation and leadership in extracurricular activities.  Nine out of 18 SENR undergraduates were recognized as Newcomb Scholars, and four SENR students were awarded the 2013 Lee Johnston Leadership Award, which provides scholarships to junior or senior students in natural resources who possess leadership skills and maintain active participation in student/professional organizations within the School. 

Congratulations to the following School of Environment and Natural Resources (SENR) undergraduates on their academic and leadership achievements.

Top 20 Seniors:

Nine SENR students were recognized as Newcomb Scholars out of a total of 18: 

Abigail Mackey, sophomore, Environmental Policy and Decision Making

Morgan Oberly, sophomore, Forestry, Fisheries and Wildlife

Rebecca Poser, sophomore, Environmental Policy and Decision Making

Katherine Connolly, junior, Environmental Science

Olivia Miller, junior, Environment, Economy, Development and Sustainability

Meghan Parsley, junior, Forestry, Fisheries, and Wildlife

Clair Bullock, senior, Environmental Policy and Decision Making

David Perzynski, senior, Environmental Policy and Decision Making

Elizabeth Roberto, senior, Environmental Policy and Decision Making

Four SENR students were selected by the School of Environment and Natural Resources Alumni Society to receive the 2013 Lee Johnston Leadership Award, which recognizes exemplary student leaders.  Each awardee will receive a $750 Scholarship from the Lee Johnston Leadership Scholarship Fund.  SENR students receiving this award include:

Ethan Rhodus, freshman, Natural Resources Management

Clair Bullock, senior, Environmental Policy & Decision Making 

Rachel DeNoewer, senior, Natural Resources Management

Alifia Merchant, senior, Environmental Science

Finally, Clair Bullock, a senior in Environmental Policy & Decision Making, who works closely with the Academic Team for SENR received the Outstanding Undergraduate Employee Award and Matheus DeNardo, a junior in Natural Resources Management was awarded with the  Outstanding Internship Award.  Learn more about his internship experience here.
