The School of Environment and Natural Resources (SENR) was well represented at the 2023 American Society of Agronomy (ASA), Crop Science Society of America (CSSA), and the Soil Science of America (SSA) International Annual Meeting held in St. Louis, Missouri (October 29-November 1, 2023) offered in person with limited virtual options.

Jim Ippolito, professor in the School of Environment and Natural Resources served as the Program Planning Officer for the international joint meeting of the societies —representing the American Society of Agronomy. This is Dr. Ippolito’s third term serving as a program planning officer helping to develop and shape the overall meeting experience, which brings together thousands to share what Joann Whalen describes in the October ASA President’s Message, “the fruits of your labor.” You can read that message here

Open Science Inspires, the theme of this year’s meeting offered participants a plethora of opportunities to dive into the theme and celebrate the common thread that ties these societies together – the dissemination and transfer of scientific knowledge to advance the professions. Participants had the opportunity to engage in keynote events, 3000+Abstracts, student focused programming and an exposition.

SENR faculty, including Nicholas Basta, Scott Demyan, Manbir Rakkar and Leonardo Deiss presented research and/or organized sessions. Several SENR graduate students were also in attendance, along with faculty Jeff Hattey. The program is available online here
