Three programs in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences have been recognized as 2024 Programs of Excellence in Engaged Scholarship by the Office of Outreach and Engagement at The Ohio State University. The three programs are led by faculty in the School of Environment and Natural Resources (SENR). The programs certified as demonstrating excellence in community-engaged scholarship and meeting the criteria of high-impact engaged scholarship are:

Sustainability Capstone: Campus and Community as a Living Laboratory led by Greg Hitzhusen, assistant professor of professional practice

Pesapane Lab Tick Pathogen Program led by Risa Pesapane, assistant professor, College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences and College of Veterinary Medicine

Environmental Professionals Network (EPN) led by Joe Campbell, director, EPN and Callia Téllez, program assistant

Haley Shoemaker, OSU Extension Educator, is also recognized with the 2024 University Outreach and Engagement Community Engaged Practitioner Award. The Community Engaged Practitioner Award recognizes staff members who have demonstrated superior commitment to developing, coordinating, and/or sustaining projects, activities, or initiatives involving Ohio State and community partners that enhance engaged scholarship and community impacts.
An awards luncheon at the end of spring semester will be held to honor the awardees.
