Ella Weaver, instructional aide in the School of Environment and Natural Resources (SENR) published her first textbook - an open-source textbook titled “Scientific Posters, A Learners Guide”. The textbook is free to anyone. Weaver published the book with co-authors Kylienne Shaul and Brian Lower.
The textbook will be used in SENR’s Introduction to Environmental Science course (ENR2100). "ENR2100 has an annual enrollment of 2,200+ and we estimate that this free textbook will save our students over $100,000 per year," said Brian Lower, associate professor in the SENR and lead instructor of ENR2100.
"This textbook was written to help provide inclusive access and affordable education to our students," Lower said. "These are both core missions of The Ohio State University and all public land-grant universities."
This is the third open-source textbook published for Introduction to Environmental Science (ENR2100) and free to anyone around the globe.
Support was provided by Ohio State’s School of Environment & Natural Resources, Ohio State’s Office of Distance Education and eLearning and the U.S. National Science Foundation under grants EAR-1424138 and ECCS-1710598.
The book is in the Creative Commons under the Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 40).
