The newest members of Xi Sigma Pi

Congratulations to the newest members of Xi Sigma Pi – the national forestry honor society.

On the evening of April 15th, the Alpha Psi chapter of the Xi Sigma Pi National Forestry Honors Fraternity inducted its third group of students and faculty/staff. They inducted twelveMaking the plaques for the inductees out of Buckeye. students: Oneli Basnagala, Katie Bilotas, Allie Carter, Martha Haney, Rowan Hauer, Derek Korane, Haley Marcum, Alaina McLaughlin, Mitchell Plants, Anna Rose, Margaret Rundio, and Alexandra Sloat.

Additionally, Jim Downs - Assistant Professor and Forestry Field Specialist with Ohio State University Extension, Simon Power - Visiting Assistant Professor in SENR, and Kirsten Packer - Instructional Aids Associate in SENR, were also inducted.

In attendance at the ceremony were founding members and current members:  Bob Gates, Alexis Londo, Andy Londo, Sayeed Mehmood, Jake Nicholson, Jo Peacock, Elias Smith, and Kai Zhao. The ceremony was conducted in accordance with the national chapter procedures by Forester Samuel Stachler and Ranger Leah Kloboves.  With these new inductees, the Alpha Psi chapter now has 39 official members. Xi Sigma Pi aims to promote a high standard of scholarship in forestry education, the improvement of the forestry profession, and a fraternal spirit among those engaged in activities related to the forest. Thank you to all members who were able to make it to the induction. Next academic year, eligible students will be invited to begin the induction process to become members.
