The School of Environment and Natural Resources (SENR) seminar series is an enriching opportunity for students and faculty across the university to learn about emerging and impactful scholarly research in the field of environmental and natural resources from both Ohio State’s own experts and distinguished faculty from other institutions.
Shining a spotlight on graduate research
This year the series shines a spotlight not only on faculty research, but also the research of SENR graduate students.
"Reimaging the series in this way helps to highlight the breadth of what we do in SENR and for students to start to appreciate diverse disciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches to Environment and Natural Resources questions," said Robyn Wilson, professor and associate director of research and graduate education in the SENR. "We wanted to give our MS and PhD students an opportunity to present what they are working on during their time in SENR, allowing more exposure to their work and an opportunity to practice their presentation skills in front of a diverse and multidisciplinary audience of students and faculty."
During autumn 2024, 14 graduate students presented their research to peers, faculty, staff and guests.

"As a student co-chair for hosting seminar, I love the opportunity to bring students, faculty, and our guest speakers together through hosting engaging discussions and events that help bring our fields closer together,” said Anna Rose. “One of my highlights in graduate school is getting to know these professionals that may have jobs or careers in fields I didn’t even know existed. It brings me excitement to realize the endless directions my passion for my degree can take me."
Mark your calendars to attend spring talks
This semester the series promises the same opportunity for graduate students to share their research (with more than 15 presentations by graduate students), hone their science communication skills and have a leadership role in planning and hosting conversations with speakers and offer the wider Ohio State community and beyond to learn about SENR research and distinguished research and outreach of colleagues working in the field of environment and natural resources.
Plan to join SENR for another semester of talks!
