Alex Rehbinder, a graduate student in the School of Environment and Natural Resources (SENR), has been awarded funding for “Rotational Grazing Adoption in Ohio and Missouri” through the North Central Region Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education competitive graduate student grants program.

The funding will support research to understand the key drivers and constraints behind the adoption of rotational grazing in Ohio and Missouri – two states with rich agricultural diversity and distinct policy landscapes. The research aims to support farmers, advisors, and policymakers in identifying pathways to expand adoption of sustainable grazing systems.

Alex is advised by Doug Jackson-Smith, professor, and holder of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation Endowed Chair in Agricultural Ecosystems Management in The Ohio State University College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES).  The study will utilize a mixed methods approach bringing together survey data and in-depth on-farm interviews with rotational and continuous graziers and observations to reveal elusive pathways to adoption.
