Associate Professor Steve Lyon to join the School of Environment and Natural Resources (SENR) leadership team.

Effective March 15, Dr. Lyon will begin serving as the Associate Director for the School of Environment and Natural Resources (SENR) on the Wooster campus.

As a hydrologist, Dr. Lyon’s research focuses on the characterization of land and water interactions and seeks to unravel feedbacks across scales to inform viable strategies toDr. Steven Lyon improve water quality in working landscapes. Dr. Lyon has published more than 136 peer-reviewed journal articles in top tier journals leading to more than 5,000 citations. He has also led and contributed to grants from various regional, national, and international sources totaling more than $9M with about $3M occurring since joining Ohio State. Over his career, Dr. Lyon has taught more than 30 individual courses and helped advance pedagogic methodology development for water management and hydrology education.

Dr. Lyon has served in various university and community roles since joining SENR in 2019, including membership on SENR’s Seminar Series Committee, co-chairing SENR’s recent Indigenous Environmental Studies Search Committee, supporting the CFAES Rattan Lal Center for Carbon Management and Sequestration on both its steering committee and co-chairing the agriculture soils working group, and helping coordinate the Wooster Science Café. Steve also serves as an Associate Editor for Hydrological Sciences Journal, Associate Editor-in-Chief for Sustainability, and is founding Editorial Board Member for Journal of Water Resources Engineering Management and Policy – Tanzania.

In this role as Associate Director-Wooster, Dr. Lyon will lead SENR’s Wooster operations (overseeing Wooster-based staff, coordinating with campus administrators and other Wooster-based associate chairs) as well as provide leadership on research policies and practices in SENR, and chair SENR’s Research Committee and facilitate research reporting.
