Research: Responses of Aquatic Biotic Communities to Multi-Stressor Environments. Understanding and predicting how aquatic organisms, individually and as a community, respond to multiple stressors in complex environments remains a challenge. In this research, we seek to quantify and model responses of fishes and freshwater mussels to a suite of common environmental stressors including land-use and land-cover change, alterations in stream hydrology associated with dams and dam removal, and urban-induced changes in stream temperatures. I anticipate that this research will contribute to defining thresholds in aquatic systems as well as have strong applications to conservation and management of Ohio fish and mussels species.
