Dr. Harrison Fried is the Program Director of the Environmental Professionals Network (EPN) at The Ohio State University’s School of Environment and Natural Resources (SENR). Dr. Fried completed his Ph.D., M.S., and B.S. degrees in Environmental Policy all from SENR. He primarily pursues two interrelated objectives: first, to advance policy theory to understand how environmental stakeholders coordinate with each other despite conditions of social and ecological complexity, and second, to engage environmental practitioners with decision support tools to broker efficient partnerships. He typically uses a mixture of network and qualitative analyses in his research and outreach.
Within the engagement space, Dr. Fried is the co-founder of the Columbus Environmental Networking Tool (CENT). CENT is a research-based decision support tool for enhancing collaboration between environmental organizations in Ohio (CENT link: https://tinyurl.com/CENTool). In his role as Program Director for the EPN, Dr. Fried is working to advance the structure and functionality of a networking tool like CENT. He is from Cleveland, Ohio.
During the summers, Dr. Fried instructs the Environmental and Natural Resources Policy course (ENR 3200) at Stone Laboratory.
As the EPN Program Director and as a researcher, Dr. Fried is committed to working with community members, faculty, and students to advance our understanding and practice of environmental management in complex social systems. For more information, please go to www.harrisonfried.weebly.com.
