Research: Coastal-estuarine food webs across natural and artificial gradients of the Florida Gulf Coast. Coastal ecosystems are projected to change in response to reduced freshwater input, rising sea level, and a confluence with highly urbanized areas. Our research based in Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve and Fakahatchee Strand Preserve is investigating how salinity gradients and hydrology drive food web interactions and aquatic-terrestrial resources fluxes. We will further examine potential effects of artificial light at night (ALAN) on trophic interactions of focal prey and consumers.
